CULTURAL EXCHANGE

The thirty third annual exhibition of the Scottish Glass Society will be held at North Lands Gallery in Lybster, Caithness. Working in close cooperation with North Lands Creative Glass, the exhibition will take place during their annual conference in September 2012. North Lands Creative Glass is a centre of excellence, which  stimulates and advances the possibilities of glass as an art form. North Lands Creative Glass have brought to our shores some of the best artists from around the world to share and exchange their wealth of artistic and technical knowledge.
 
The title of the 2012 North Lands Creative Glass Conference will be ‘Give-and-Take’. The conference will explore conceptual and stylistic exchanges over time, between different cultures and media. The theme of the SGS exhibition is ‘Cultural Exchange’ which will mirror the theme of the conference. This is a rich and diverse subject that incorporates art, language, clothing, food, religion, dance, music, sport, flora and fauna. In it’s widest interpretation, the theme of cultural exchange may be taken to encompass huge swathes of human activity and interaction, which we hope will inspire you to create diverse and thought-provoking work. The exhibition will run from 9th September 2012.
 
The exhibition space is on ground level, however there is limited space and therefore this should be taken into consideration when applying. I would urge those who have not seen the space to visit if at all possible.

Delivery of Work & Insurance
Lorna O’Brien, North Lands Gallery, Quatre Bras, Lybster, Caithness, KW3 6BN. All packaging should be clearly identifiable and labelled with the name of the artist, and the title of the piece. If a large scale piece requires installation, this should be arranged by the artist, and all fixtures and fittings should be provided by the artist. Insurance for the work traveling to and from the gallery is the responsibility of the artist. Artwork will be insured whilst at the gallery.
