Experience

Over the past nine years I have been increasingly seduced, excited and inspired by the medium of glass.

I first became involved with glass when I started working for Liz Rowley Stained Glass as an apprentice in 1999. I fell in love with the material; the colours, textures and surface treatments; and the endless techniques and processes you can use to manipulate this delicate yet robust material. I continue to work there two days per week. The studio caries out commissions for private and public buildings, restores old windows and recently, creates contemporary kiln formed pieces.

In October 2000 I was accepted onto a three month apprenticeship at the Vertrate Artistche Toscana, in Siena, Italy. It was there that I first began to learn about glass fusing. This has become a technique I now work with regularly and continue to develop, winning the Pearsons Prize for Best Use of Glass in Fusing in 2006.

In 2002 I set up in business practice as a professional glass artist. I produce work for many group exhibitions throughout Scotland and also work to commission. I work with leaded glass, fused glass, glass mosaic and copper foiled glass.

From 2001 I have run a variety of glass based workshops for children in schools and art centres, employed by Crawford Arts Centre, Dundee City Council Arts and Heritage Department, Quality Contact Project and W.A.S.P.S.

In 2005 I was selected to attend the Klaus Moje fusing Masterclass at Northlands Creative Glass, Lybster.

In 2007 I was selected to attend Judith Schaechter’s painting Masterclass at Northlands Creative Glass, Lybster.
